Indoor shooting - my little portfolio

Indoor shooting

Interior shot - quite a popular genre of photography - and it's not just advertising photography furniture manufacturers and design companies. Now shoot the interiors all and sundry - and I'm including.

My story interior shooting began years 7 ago, I labored to remove reports from design exhibitions, furniture and interior solutions for one online magazine. Need to say, I liked this case, and even after the end of cooperation with the magazine, me not, not, Yes, and I look down on the exhibition, which take place in Crocus Expo and Expocentre.

So that, a few years in my archive has collected a couple thousand photos of interiors and furniture. Some of them are open trash, but there are, for which I do not particularly ashamed.

Taking interior

Of course, I do not claim the title of Professional interior photographer - not on your nelly. There are a lot of really cool professionals, who do not just picture perfect technique, but also real works of art. I liked the work of Oleg Zotov and Alexander Steblovsky, but in fact a lot of interior photographers and many works of very high level.

What can I say about interior photography. I remind, I'm not a professional photographer Interior.

Features interior shooting

Let's talk about the features of interior photography. If you think, interiors that can be easily removed at any lens unit, then you….. rights. Can. And probably something in this picture, made on smartphone, you will see, but whether this picture is attractive? This question. Indoor shooting technique is more difficult, than portrait or reportage. This is due to, which are not always obvious:

First of all, you need to rent a small room this way, to all the important details of the interior have been in the frame. I.e, remove to a kit lens will be difficult. We need a wide-angle lens, which enables to capture a larger area. In such cases I use my Sony Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T * 16-80mm stock lens. This is a good lens., rather sharp and focal length 16 good enough for a simple interior shooting. Of course it's not as high-aperture, but in interior photography rarely need to shoot wide open. Usually removed on 8-11. I.e, for general plans need a large depth of field. Motion blur is used to capture individual parts, but rarely. usually 1,8 or 2 remove parts of interiors in hotel rooms or luxury apartments, to emphasize the class of accessories and interior items. For normal shooting is not necessary.

Secondly, to shoot the interiors need a good light, and the light is different. Let me explain my thought. for example, you need to shoot in a hotel room and asked the customer to create an intimate romantic setting. With Traditional skylights do hard. Light sources - pulsed or continuous. Something pritemnit, on something to focus. This is done using flares or directional continuous light sources. Of course, You can shoot with a tripod and, and all effects created in Photoshop, that still do, in principle,, but nevertheless - the light is a very important part in interior photography.

by the way, if you like the photos of interiors and you often view them in magazines or in Pinterest, then perhaps you have paid attention to the complexity of such images? Not? Just imagine how organized shooting. portrait eg: makeup artist working on a model, choose clothes: exposed light - a pair of flares and shoot - you can rent a couple of hundreds of pictures - the rose, so I turned, leaned, straightened. It is in the studio, but on the street and more options. Now imagine staging an interior shot - sofas, seat, cabinets, accessories, textiles and all that is necessary to place, hang put, move to, here, back - a hell of a job of work. And do you, at best, a couple of dozen shots. Of course, you will film a few hundred, but the angle is very little, when compared with shooting people. And in order to change something you have to stop shooting and rearrange furniture, outweigh. That's how many hours it will take for all. Complicated, even physically difficult and it requires more people, and equipment.

At the expense of cameras and lenses – Well what can I say ... It all depends on the task - if you want a picture to your blog, it is quite possible to manage and smartphone, for the catalog online store or online portfolio design companies require equipment is more serious.

But for glossy magazines, and even more so for large format poster and will need a camera and lenses have a top level with a large matrix and high detail. It is already expensive.

Well, in the end of the story I represent a small selection of photos of interior domestic production.
