Once upon a time I saw a selection of photos from the so-called Rusty Belt of America – very impressive these pictures make. And this really is the end of an era – the era of industrial not even power, but rather a celebration of industrial production. Who is older remembers, that we had the same streak – romance of construction and industrial run.

So here, Detroit factories ruins – this is the end of that era, the end of big car romance, just like ours are empty crumbling buildings of industrial zones – the same end. With that only difference, that in the States this phenomenon is normal and capital simply flows into other industries along with most of the people, but for us it's just the end – capital is gone, and the state simply collapsed and forgot about entire industries.

so, back to our specific ruins. I filmed in a building at the beginning of the last century in Saratov. I just walked by and here it is. by the way, Interestingly – judging by the windows, the house is still years old 15 functioned back. I was surprised by the speed of destruction. How in such a short time everything turned into a continuous ruin. Of course, I understand the reasons for this – most likely you just need a place for the construction of another or residential, or a trade and office masterpiece of architecture. What I wanted to reflect when shooting and what accents were made?

Of course, first of all, in such filming, you focus on abrupt transitions from light to dark. – contrast. After all, the shooting concept – show destruction, the end and it must be partially all lit. In my case, light plays a decisive role in the pictures.. Windows and lights to the street, where modern life goes, Window openings through which snow falls into the building, a string of doorways and a light at the end. And this is not the light at the end of the tunnel, but just entering a new world and not a fact, that he is better than the old one. Well, something like this – I put such meanings in pictures. Most of the images have been processed and converted to black and white. Why? We don't need nuance in the pictures – we need a clean concept – black and white and contrast. There are nuances to this destruction, but these are the nuances of destruction, scrapped and new is not yet visible.
